About

The continual emergence of new technologies offer exciting opportunities for changing the nature of education. Driven by new models of work, and an increasingly interconnected and globally-linked world, continual learning is taking on a new importance for schoolchildren and adults alike. This blog was started in 2009 as an initial point of reflection, discussion, and sharing, with an emphasis on the importance of leadership, vision, and technologies in education.

Since early 2011, I have been posting a variety of more creative constructs on my de•tri•tus blog. I also periodically post to my Minecraft blog.

In June 2019, I retired from my role teaching elementary school in Belleville, Ontario, Canada. However, as a long-standing advocate for the use of technology in education, and a passionate believer in the importance of learning and self-direction, I’m still active in education, currently sitting on ECOO Board of Directors, and working as a consultant to a major CanCode recipient.  I also enjoy photography, working at my guitar, playing Minecraft, making animated GIFs, and more recently, travelling.
